in the studio: painting hands.

i love images that tell a story,
and these tell a story of a loving creation in process.

((absolutely one of my favorite photos of the entire process. love, love.))

yes. a look of pure concentration, getting lost in the creative flow.

what better than to end the story in images with feet, planted in this sacred space of the art+spirit studio.  i love seeing, touching, remembering, sharing everything about these photos. i love that my friend rani ((since we were 12 was with me as i created, taking these images)).  i love so much these days.  it's a good space to occupy, rooted in this sacred space, rooted as a sacred soul centered in knowing.  present to others. leaning fully into my call & my voice.  sacred steps. sacred marking moments.  sacred stories.

concentration. play. movement.  a layer for a painting that continues to move forward,
sharing a small glimpse in the process of creation.

life stories: something old & something new

each day brings more centering in this space. preparing the space itself with colors, good folks occupying the space and dreaming along...

painting hands...

painting toes.

and then... i began to look around and see...

something old...

something new...

something borrowed...

something blue...

while i don't truly see a wedding, i do see a birth. the midwives that surround me come in many forms. i am thankful for the hands that create, for the voices that name,
for the dreams dreamed and the hopes shared.

may this space continue to become something extra-special as
i prepare for the groups, the art, and the creativity that's to be birthed in this space.

may it be so.

life stories: a little paint & a lotta love

day 1: creating space.
these are a few of the highlights from the day's
work preparing the new studio space.

the first rolls, testing the color in the morning light.

returning to the space, painting with my boy.
i love the help from these hands of my son. what a sweet moment.
we took turns, so i could smooth over what his hands helped create.

soon half of one wall was complete, with a little more edging on the corner.

and a little afternoon light graced us with its presence.
i hear the studio will get roasty toasty in the summer heat.
good thing we're moving in the fall
and will have time for those preparations.

i'm beginning to think of this as a robin's nest. lovely.

thanks be for my sweet one and his eager help, for friends who offer support and cheer colors, and for the hands to come who will bless the space with their participation and presence. ah, these are good moments, in a good space, with so much more to come...

canvases in three sizes in process. each contain a layer of acrylic paints.
atop that vintage laces & one with layered ink drawings. more to come...

two more canvases containing the base layer of acrylic paints and an additional layer of vintage lace. the lace adds such a lovely element. i could stop here and enjoy these, but they are on a journey. more to come...

art+spirit: a session of birth art

long ago, before the birth of her first child, my friend E asked me to create a time of art with her. she knew of my work with creativity and arts, combining art & spirituality into experiences that bring meaning & healing. i was honored.

again she asked and i answered YES! we sat in two sessions. we shared and i crafted a guided image for her needs & desires to meet fears. she stilled herself and became present to her journey though art:

session one.

the finished piece: a tryptic with oil flowing, pouring,
and resting on the sweet one to be born,
held now and always by her mother.

each instance of creative expression both causes me to hold my breath and gives me life by the life sustaining breaths i do inhale. i love witnessing the creativity of others. in this time of birth art, E. is birthing creativity in the same moments new life is formed within her. what a gift of sharing and expression. she has given me permission to share this with you. enjoy.
