life story: dreams & open hands

sometimes you don't need to take hold of something when it's offered. i listen to my dreams as i'm able, some of which i remember, others escape memory before the eyes are fully opened. when words people use return to me in dreams, i ask myself if the words matter as words or phrases or if the words represent a larger image.

she is to be remembered
she was made alongside others, alongside women. we retreated from the world, kicking the dust off our feet at the door. we met in a circle of chairs in the chapel, sacred space. each moment was pulling us closer together, closer to our focus. each space of time was like moving into the inner circle, into the sacred circle. 20 January 2010

reflecting & remembering
Thoughts on Your Hands…
Yours are the hands I hold.
the hands I rub lotion onto.
the hands I wash, the hands I dry.
yours are the hands that are folded in prayer.
the hands that know my touch.
the hands that greet me and the hands that wave good bye.
My hands are the hands I hold.
my hands greet your hand with gentleness and love.
my hands are worn and dry from the hundred hand washings a day, but I hold
my hands in great esteem, so I care for them, rubbing lotion on them.
for my hands are now more cared for from your touch.
when my hands work for yours, when you cannot brush your teeth or eat your
meal, my hands are hands that bring nourishment and health.
May your hands be blessed. May your hands be cared for the way that you show care to others. Your hands are a blessing unto others. Be blessed, friends. Be blessed. Your hands (hearts, minds, & bodies) are in my prayers. Share love. Share peace.
written on 6.9.2008
this prayer & poem was written as i was departing a chaplain position in 2008. i grew in many ways during that time and am thankful for the experience. as i write & prepare, gathering thoughts, quotes, ideas, and art for the next retreat, i read my words & share them here. my mind, body, and spirit are growing in love and life as i create something new in each day. may you receive blessing & inspiration today also.

a prayer
may those who stare at broken spaces &
places find the healing that is needed.
may those who long for news receive word.
may those who are hurting and helpless
be held in loving arms & receive blessing.
may healing be found, doors be opened, &
food be served. may families find one another.
may stranger & guest share together.

called to create, converse, love, cook, live...

each day i live. each day i breathe. we all are in the same boat, right? these days: i'm training myself to be present to the moment. i'm aware of each breath (almost) and each step of life (getting there) so that the moments and the whole are one in each experience. my soul feels the depth.

creative peeps: Real Small Art

Real Small Art is a really creative project that I've just learned about. From the site:
Real Small Art League is an ongoing effort to inspire random acts of artistic kindness and creative awareness. A growing number of artists make, post, document and give away tiny works in surprise locations. We believe a little work of art can go a long way.You can submit the name of someone who should receive a really awesome piece of art. one of 500. Very cool. Share kindness. Share creative love.
Real Small Art League members only post original artwork in publically approved areas, like community bulletin boards or creative businesses with a mutual agreement.
In 2009, Real Small Art 2.0 began includes posting creative work in geocaches.
In 2010, Real Small Art began Free to a Good Home, sending tiny paintings to nominated recipients.

a meal to enjoy

for good food and good friends we give thanks

Geese appear high over us, pass, and the sky closes.
Abandon, as in love or sleep, holds them to their way,
clear in the ancient faith: what we need is here.
And we pray, not for new earth or heaven,
but to be quiet in heart, and in eye, clear.
What we need is here.
-Wendell Berry

I thank you God
for this most amazing day,
for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky
and for everything which is natural, which is infinite,
which is yes.
