a fitting reflection for this day, as i took ingredients from the kitchen counter and shelves to make something new. on the spot. with creativity and fearlessness:
a delightful squash soup.
using items on hand and in the garden i combined:
1/2 a leek, sliced
2 small sweet potatoes, chopped
1 butternut squash, chopped
1 acorn squash, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 inch segment of ginger, chopped
1 tart apple with skin, chopped
chicken broth
1 hot pepper, sliced down the middle, removing the seeds
1 sprig of rosemary
1 large sprig of thyme
cumin
fresh ground pepper
sea salt
cream
i sauteed the veggies & spices, then added broth. simmered a bit, removed the pepper & herbs. then macerated the mixture in the food processor. strained slightly. added the herb leaves to the soup & heavy cream. tasted and delighted.
added toast with goat cheese to a little bowl & savored what would be the evening's meal, all made before a day of MAKING in the studio.
in the studio i worked on so much. so much. it was a day of MAKING indeed.
